N.Y. Fed: Consumers Anticipate Higher Spending Growth
Americans’ expectations for how much they will spend next year increased in June, rising from 4 percent to 4.3 percent, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s monthly Survey of Consumer Expectations. Expectations of household income growth held steady at 2.9 percent, with higher expectations from younger household heads but lower expectations for household heads 40 to 60 years old. Credit availability expectations were unchanged. Consumers said they expected unchanged levels of price inflation, though the median inflation uncertainty fell from 3 percent in May to 2.6 percent, the lowest since the survey’s inception in 2013. They also expected higher home prices, with home price expectations rising to its highest reading of the year. Read more.

FDIC New York Region Regulatory Teleconference: CRA – Understanding Community Development

The FDIC's New York Region will host a Regional Regulatory Teleconference on “CRA – Understanding Community Development.” The teleconference will provide an overview of the regulatory community development  definition; Define and provide examples of community development activities; discuss best practices for identifying, tracking, and documenting community development activities; and discuss resources and strategies for identifying community development opportunities. Pre-registration is required.

Fed to Host Free Consumer Compliance Webinar
On Wednesday, July 29, the Federal Reserve will host a free webinar covering hot topics in consumer compliance and how bankers can more effectively manage growing compliance obligations. During the webinar, Fed staff will cover areas where they believe substantive or common violations occur -- including the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, spousal signatures under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Flood Disaster Protection Act of 1973 and the Unfair and Deceptive Acts or Practices Act -- and answer questions from participants. FFIEC Issues Cybersecurity Assessment Tool
The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC), is issuing the FFIEC Cybersecurity Assessment Tool to help institutions identify their cybersecurity risks and determine their preparedness. The tool was created in response to requests from the industry for assistance in determining preparedness for cyber threats. The Cybersecurity Assessment Tool and a variety of supporting resources, including an executive overview, user's guide and instructional presentation, are available on the Cybersecurity Awareness page of the FFIEC.gov website at https://www.ffiec.gov/cybersecurity.htm.

NJ Statewide "Connecting With The Community Reinvestment Act" Conference

IRS Presents 2015 Mid-Atlantic Anti-Money Laundering Conference
The Ninth Annual Mid-Atlantic Anti-Money Laundering (MAAML) Conference will take place on July 28 and 29, 2015. This conference will focus on current money laundering trends, successful investigations as well as lessons learned. The conference will additionally serve as an opportunity for law enforcement and industry partners to network and establish working relationships that will help secure the nation and shutdown vulnerabilities within the financial and economic sectors.

UCC Filers in New Jersey Required to File Electronically
The Division of Revenue and Enterprise Services (“DORES”) recently announced a new rule regarding Uniform Commercial Code (“UCC”) filings in New Jersey.  Effective July 1, 2015, all filings must be submitted electronically, and any paper filings received by DORES after the effective date will be rejected.  Though DORES allows for an exemption from this new procedure for those who wish to file by paper, anyone who wishes to obtain such an exemption must submit a written request to New Jersey’s UCC filing office and certify that the electronic filing requirement would pose an “undue hardship on the submitter.”

Department of Children and Families Partners with New Jersey Business Groups to Bring Awareness About Dangers of Leaving Children Unattended in a Car

The New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) has partnered with statewide business organizations to raise awareness about the dangers of leaving children alone in vehicles. DCF will distribute window stickers to retail stores, supermarkets, financial institutions, insurance agents, state-licensed child care centers, and more. The campaign's message will also appear at toll booths along the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway and on an electronic billboard at the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel. The New Jersey Bankers Association, New Jersey Food Council, New Jersey Retail Merchants Association, Wawa, AAA Clubs of New Jersey, and Agency Network Exchange have lent their support to DCF's initiative.
