As you may be aware, Mike Gormley who was the chief operations officer and chief financial officer at Harmony Bank was the victim of a tragic automobile accident while traveling to work recently. In light of his tragic passing, The Rotary Club of Jackson will be holding their golf tournament on August 15th at the Westlake Golf & Country Club, Jackson, N.J. in Mike’s honor. The Club has also established a scholarship for which they are soliciting funds in an ongoing effort to present to a Jackson Township high school senior annually in Mike’s name. Boston Fed: Target Breach Triggered No Change in Debit Card Use
Following the Target data breach of 40 million credit and debit card accounts in late 2013, there was little to no change in the use of credit and debit cards, according to researchers at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. However, the breach coincided with a big hit in perceptions of card safety.
CFPB Publishes Resources for HMDA Filers
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has updated its website to include resources for financial institutions required to file Home Mortgage Disclosure Act data.

The CFPB has resources to help industry participants understand, implement, and comply with the Know Before You Owe mortgage disclosure rules.
CFPB Proposes Amendments to TRID Rule
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has proposed changes to the TILA-RESPA integrated disclosures. Among the items included in the 293-page proposal are tolerance provisions for the disclosed total of payments, making the treatment consistent with pre-TRID practices and paralleling the TRID tolerances for disclosures of finance charges
FDIC Amends Exam Appeals Process
The FDIC board has voted to propose amendments to its supervisory guidelines that would expand banks’ rights to appeal exam decisions and improve consistency with other agencies’ appeals processes.
FDIC Issues Draft Guidance on Third-Party Lending
The FDIC board voted to issue examination guidance for third-party lending. The term encompasses any involvement of a third party in any part of the lending process, including marketing, underwriting, pricing, servicing, disclosures, compliance, collection and other areas -- whether the FDIC-insured institution originates a loan on behalf of a third party, uses a third party’s platform or originates a loan through or jointly with a third party.
Fed Survey: Tighter Credit Environment Dings Auto Loan Market
Bankers continued tightening credit for business loans in the last three months while they continued to ease credit standards slightly in their home mortgage and consumer loan portfolios, according to the Federal Reserve’s latest senior loan officer survey.
Uncleared Swap Margin Exemptions Finalized for Small Banks
The federal banking agencies are issuing a final rule affirming that swaps and security-based swaps that are not cleared through a central counterparty and are entered into for hedging purposes by banks with less than $10 billion in assets and commercial end users are not subject to requirements to exchange initial margin and variation margin with prudentially-regulated swap dealers and major swap participants.
