Fed Survey Examines Credit Trends among Startups
Startup firms -- those between zero and five years old that have more than one and fewer than 500 employees, face greater financing challenges than more mature businesses, according to a survey released by the Federal Reserve. Seventy-two percent of startup firms between zero and two years old and 69 percent of startups three to five years old said they faced financial challenges in the past year, compared with 56 percent of more mature firms over five years old. 

Federal Reserve issues guidelines to evaluate requests from depository institutions for joint accounts at Federal Reserve Banks
The Federal Reserve has released final guidelines that will be used to evaluate requests from depository institutions for joint accounts at Federal Reserve Banks effective upon publication in the Federal Register. These joint accounts are intended to facilitate settlement between depository institutions participating in private-sector payment systems.

Bank Accounting Advisory Series Updated
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has released an update to the Bank Accounting Advisory Series (BAAS). The BAAS covers a variety of topics and promotes consistent application of accounting standards among national banks and federal savings associations.

N.Y. Fed: Household Debt Reaches $12.84 Trillion
Outstanding household debt increased by 0.9 percent in the second quarter, rising by $114 billion to total $12.84 trillion, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The quarterly increase set a new record, coming one quarter after household debt topped its previous 2008 peak.

According to an article in NJBiz Margaret Lanning will immediately assume her duties, reporting directly to Investors Bank’s Chief Risk Officer. She will have the primary responsibility for monitoring risk trends of Investors Bank’s loan portfolio, and for developing policies and procedures for the safe and sound credit underwriting, operations and administration of Investors Bank.  Lanning will also provide support and direction for day-to-day operation of Investors Bank’s Credit Risk Management, comprising internal loan review, portfolio monitoring and analytics, appraisal and workout functions.

Delmar Bancorp and Liberty Bell Bank Announce Merger Agreement
On July 20, 2017, Delmar Bancorp ("Delmar") (OTCQB: DBCP), the parent company of The Bank of Delmarva, Seaford, Delaware ("Delmarva"), and Liberty Bell Bank, Marlton, New Jersey ("Liberty") (OTCQB: LBBB) entered into a definitive agreement (the "Agreement") pursuant to which Liberty will be acquired by Delmar through the merger of Liberty into Delmarva, with Delmarva being the surviving institution.

ABA Foundation Invites Volunteers for 2017 'Get Smart About Credit' Day

The American Bankers Association Foundation is calling for banker volunteers for its 15th annual Get Smart About Credit campaign, an initiative designed to teach teens how to use credit effectively.
