Federal Reserve Bank of New York Business Leaders Survey
Activity in the region’s service sector continued to grow at a solid pace, according to firms responding to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s February 2018 Business Leaders Survey. The survey’s headline business activity index edged down two points but remained firmly positive at 15.9. The business climate index rose five points to 21.1, a record high, signaling that firms, on balance, regarded the business climate as better than normal.

Digital Banking Consumers Are Frustrated
In a recent online survey of 1,600 U.S.-based digital banking users (meaning those who have used digital banking in the past 12 months), 68 percent reported being frustrated with their online banking experience.

Stanley J. Koreyva Jr., President and COO, has announced a staff compensation enhancement program increasing the minimum wage for all full time employees to $15 an hour.

Bogota Savings Bank Awards Bonuses to Employees
The Board of Directors and President/CEO Joseph Coccaro of Bogota Savings Bank have awarded a special one-time, before tax bonus of $1,350 to all employees. This is a consequence of the new federal tax reform legislation, which resulted in the corporate tax rate reduction from 34% to 21%.

Boiling Springs Savings Bank Announces Strong Fourth Quarter Donations for Community Alliance Program
Boiling Springs Savings Bank announced fourth quarter 2017 results for its award-winning, philanthropic Community Alliance Program (CAP). The $128,722 donated in Q4 led to the program’s highest annual donation to date, with nearly $500,000 distributed to various New Jersey charitable organizations in 2017 alone. All totaled, an impressive $3.2 million has been donated through CAP since its 2006 inception.

Capital Bank Reports Record Earnings; Declares Semi-Annual Cash Dividend
Capital Bank of New Jersey has declared a semi-annual cash dividend to stockholders. On April 20, 2018, a $0.20 per share dividend will be paid to all stockholders who are holders of record on March 9, 2018.

ConnectOne Bank Notches Premier Lender Designation
According to an article in NJBIZ, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority has designated ConnectOne Bank as a premier lender. ConnectOne, which has five branches in the state, joins more than two-dozen New Jersey banks in the EDA’s Premier Lender Program. Under the program, the EDA can guarantee or participate in a portion of a bank’s commercial loans or credit facilities.

Lakeland Bank Earns Preferred Lender Status from SBA
Lakeland Bank has been granted Preferred Lender Status by the Small Business Administration (SBA), the highest bank designation reserved for top-tier lenders. The Preferred Lender status provides Lakeland Bank with the authority to process, close, service and liquidate most SBA-guaranteed loans without prior review to provide faster financing to the small business community.

Thomas J. Shara, President and CEO of Lakeland Bank, announced the following appointments. John F. Rath, III has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer and Stephen C. Novak, has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Senior Commercial Real Estate Officer and Group Leader.

Favre Joins Provident Bank as Senior Vice President, Deputy Lending Officer
Larry Favre of Metuchen, N.J. joined Provident Bank as Senior Vice President, Deputy Lending Officer in the bank’s Lending Division.  In this newly created position, he will be responsible for assisting with the review and approval of commercial loans.  In addition, Favre will be actively involved with the bank’s Relationship Managers to help structure new and existing commercial loans, meeting with customers, reviewing term sheets and supporting loan approvals.

Northfield Bank Promotes Eileen Bergin and Irene Greenman to Senior Vice President
Steven M. Klein, President and Chief Executive Officer of Northfield Bank, announced that Eileen Bergin and Irene Greenman have been promoted to Senior Vice President. Eileen Bergin holds the titles of Corporate Secretary, In-House Counsel and CRA Officer and also is responsible for Corporate Governance leadership.  Irene Greenman joined Northfield in 2010 as Vice President of Loan Servicing after a 16 year career in banking operations. 

UCEDC gets $250,000 bank grant to help ease challenges faced by women and diverse business owners
Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) announced that Union County Economic Development Corporation (UCEDC) received a $250,000 grant in lending capital to aid its statewide funding and training programs for women and diverse small business owners.  It is one of 12 organizations nationwide selected in Round 4 of the Wells Fargo Works for Small Business: Diverse Community Capital (DCC) program.

Valley National Bank Promotes Robert J. Bardusch to Chief Operating Officer
Valley National Bank, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Valley National Bancorp headquartered in Wayne, announced the promotion of Robert J. Bardusch to executive vice president, chief operating officer (COO).

Lieutenant Colonel Darling retired from the United States Marine Corps with over 20 years of active duty service. He flew attack helicopters in Desert Shield and Desert Storm during the first Gulf War and in Somalia, Africa, in support of Operation Restore Hope. Lt. Col. Darling supported the President, Vice President and National Security Advisor in the President's Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) on September 11, 2001. He has addressed numerous academic, government, and military organizations and is the author of 24 Hours Inside the President’s Bunker, 9/11/01: The White House and the President.

Marty Lyons’ football experience matured under the guidance of the late Paul “Bear” Bryant at the U of Alabama where he was All-American. He was captain of the NCAA Division 1 National Champion team. He was inducted into the 2011 College Football Hall of Fame and is the 2017 recipient of the Paul W. Bryant Alumni – Athlete Award. His football career with the NY Jets spanned 12 years where he played both defensive tackle and defensive end. Along with Mark Gastineau, Joe Klecko and Abdul Salaam, he was a key player in the infamous “New York Sack Exchange”. Marty decided to use his name and God given talent to make a difference in the lives of terminally ill children. The Marty Lyons foundation has fulfilled 7,300 wishes for these children.

As a result, they can face serious health complications, physical and learning disabilities and some will not reach their first birthday.  March for Babies is the number one fundraising event for the March of Dimes that brings walkers, volunteers and sponsors together to celebrate their community.
