NJBankers Launches #NJThanksBanks Campaign

NJBankers kicked off our #NJThanksBanks campaign to showcase the great work our members do every day to support their customers, neighbors and communities.

Why this campaign is important for your bank and the banking industry:

  • You work countless hours on the PPP to ensure the viability of businesses in your community. 
  • You have hosted food drives for many who have lost jobs during the pandemic.
  • You ensure that kids have school supplies. We can go on so why don’t you?
This campaign will benefit the NJ banking industry by supporting our advocacy efforts to influence favorable legislation.

Our Ask:
Submit your stories and to your benefit, you’ll have one less social media post to plan – plus you’ll show off how our industry makes a difference.  We encourage multiple submissions.  NJBankers will do our best to keep posts unbranded so you are not promoting another bank but the industry as a whole.

A posting schedule will be created and shared with all who submit stories so you are aware of when your submission will be posted. Stories will be posted once a week on Tuesdays.

February 16th Feature: We are proud to announce that, through a New Jersey Bank’s Jeans for a Cause initiative, a donation was made in the amount of $5,000 to over 25 local and national charitable organizations serving our community in 2020.

Federal Reserve Bank of New York Business Leaders Survey
Activity in the region’s service sector continued to decline significantly, though at a slower pace than last month, according to firms responding to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s February 2021 Business Leaders Survey. The survey’s headline business activity index rose ten points to -21.5. The business climate index was little changed at -65.0, indicating that the vast majority of firms continued to view the business climate as worse than normal. Employment levels continued to decline, and wage increases continued to accelerate.

California Rep. Maxine Waters to Keynote ABA Washington Summit

House Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) will deliver keynote remarks during ABA's Washington Summit, a free virtual event to be held March 16-17. In the last Congress, Chairwoman Waters led House efforts to pass ABA-supported BSA/AML reforms, cannabis banking legislation and a host of other bills directly affecting banks.

ABA Urges Bankers to Oppose NCUA Field of Membership Proposal
ABA is calling on bankers to write to the National Credit Union Administration to oppose a proposed rule that would expand the field of membership requirements of multiple common bond credit unions.

White House extends forbearance, foreclosure protections
The Biden administration extended the foreclosure moratorium and mortgage forbearance on certain loans through the end of June.

Thomas J. Kemly, President and CEO of Columbia Bank, was proud to award Michael Campbell, SVP, Community Development Officer, with the community service lifetime achievement award. For over 20 years, Mr. Campbell has been focused on Columbia Bank's CRA and community service initiatives while simultaneously playing an active role in various local organizations. The award comes just before Mr. Campbell's retirement, scheduled for  April 1, 2021.

Spencer Savings Bank Announces Results of 2021 Annual Meeting, Welcomes New Board Members
Spencer Savings Bank, a leading New Jersey-based community bank, announced that its 2021 Annual Meeting was held on Thursday, January 21, 2021. At the meeting, Peter J. Hayes was re-elected to the bank’s Board of Directors, for a term of three years. The bank also welcomed two new board members. Thomas J. Duch was elected to the bank’s Board of Directors, for a term of three years. Ada Melendez McGuinness was elected to the bank’s Board of Directors for a term of one year.
