New Policies for all In-Person Events

NJBankers in-person events policy beginning September 12 will be:

• NJBankers in-person events will require all attendees, speakers, guests, and NJBankers/BCG staff be fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to the start of the event, or to have tested negative for COVID no more than 72 hours prior to the start of the event.  All attendees will be required to present proof of either their vaccine or negative test prior to accessing the event. 
• An email will be sent prior to all events detailing these policies and highlighting any changes that will be updated on our website
• While not a requirement, NJBankers encourages all attendees, speakers, guests and NJBankers/BCG staff to wear masks while indoors regardless of vaccination status
• If you show signs of a fever, cough or respiratory issues, we ask that you not attend an event
• If you become ill at an  event, we ask you let a member of NJBankers management team know and leave the event
• No exceptions will be made to these requirements (religious and medical exemptions must show proof of negative COVID test as noted above)
• NJBankers reserves the right to rescind and/or amend these policies at any given time based on State of NJ and  or  CDC recommendations

 
Applications Available Soon for The Constantine G. Callas Progressive Educational & Work Ethic Memorial Scholarship Award of $2,000

NJBankers and Associate Member George Callas are pleased to announce the second year of presenting the Constantine G. Callas Progressive Educational & Work Ethic Memorial Scholarship. The Scholarship is being granted by Mr. Callas in memory of his father.

The annual award of $2,000 is to be used for education at any of the following schools: the New Jersey Bankers Association Emerging Leaders School; Colorado School of Banking; and American Bankers Association (ABA) or Independent Community Bankers Association (ICBA) Schools. It can also be used toward a Masters; Adult Continuing Education; and Certifications in Banking Disciplines (tuition books).

The 2020 Scholarship was awarded to Caresse Ocampo of Haven Savings Bank.

The Scholarship is open to all employees of New Jersey financial institutions who are committed to continuing education in the field of finance and whose financial institution is a member of the New Jersey Bankers Association. Details and applications will be available September 7, 2021. The winner will be presented with the Award on November 4, 2021 during the Awards ceremony.

Provident Bank announced that Bennett MacDougall has joined the Bank as Senior Vice President, General Counsel of Provident Bank and Beacon Trust Company and Deputy General Counsel of Provident Financial Services, Inc. Mr. MacDougall is based in the Bank’s Iselin, N.J. administrative headquarters and is responsible for overseeing all legal affairs of the Bank and its subsidiaries, in addition to providing advice to the Executive Leadership Team on all matters of law and policy.

ABA Urges Bankers: Ask Lawmakers to Oppose New IRS Reporting Rules
ABA is calling on bankers to contact their lawmakers and express opposition to any new reporting requirements for banks to track and report customer accounts and financial transactions to the IRS. A vote on the issue is expected in the coming days.

Community banks, customers respond to IRS push
Community bank customers have joined the industry in expressing opposition to the Biden administration’s proposal to require banks to report their customers’ account information to the IRS.


FDIC and OCC Host Strategies to Expand Capital Access to Minority Small Businesses Webinar
