FDIC-Insured Institutions Earn $43.7 Billion in Fourth Quarter 2016 Community Bank Net Income Rises to $5.3 Billion
Commercial banks and savings institutions insured by the FDIC reported aggregate net income of $43.7 billion in the fourth quarter of 2016, up $3.1 billion (7.7 percent) from a year earlier.

Federal Home Loan Bank of New York Fourth Quarter Dividend Declaration

The Federal Home Loan Bank of New York announced that, on February 16, 2017, their Board of Directors approved a dividend for the fourth quarter of 2016 of 5.65% (annualized). The dollar amount of the dividend will be approximately $87.6 million. The cash dividend was distributed on February 17, 2017.


OCC Updates Comptroller’s Licensing Manual

The OCC has updated the “Changes in Directors and Senior Executive Officers” booklet of its Comptroller’s Licensing Manual. The revised booklet reflects changes made since the Office of Thrift Supervision merged into the OCC, and incorporates revised regulatory requirements for changes in directors or senior executive officers, distinguishing between requirements for national banks and federal savings associations.

President Trump on Friday issued an executive order as part of his administration’s efforts to reduce regulatory burdens.

Boiling Springs Savings Bank announced the promotion of James A McKiernan to First Vice President.

Capital Bank Reports Record Earnings and Growth; Declares Increase to Cash Dividend
Capital Bank of New Jersey has announced its 2016 earnings. The bank reported a net income of $4,173,000 for the year ended December 31, 2016, a 7.5% increase over its 2015 income of $3,880,000. Earnings per share increased to $1.70 from $1.56 during the same time period.

Koenigsberg Receives Hero Award From Charity
New Jersey-based residential mortgage lender First Choice Loan Services Inc., a Berkshire Bank Company, announced Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Norman T. Koenigsberg received The Ryan’s Hero Award from Ryan’s Quest, a charity established to increase awareness of and find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

NVE Bank Appoints John Spencer to First Senior Vice President, Retail Banking
Robert Rey, President and Chief Executive Officer of NVE Bank, has announced the appointment of John Spencer to First Senior Vice President, Retail Banking.

Peapack-Gladstone Bank Announces Promotions
Peapack-Gladstone Bank announced the promotion of John Kowal to Senior Vice President, Senior Technology Officer, Information Technology and Carolyn Larke to Senior Managing Director, Senior Trust Officer, Private Wealth Management. 

Regal Bank agrees to Buy Franklin Township, New Jersey Branch of New Millennium Bank 
Regal Bank announced it had reached agreement with New Millennium Bank to purchase its Franklin Township, New Jersey branch office located at 464B Elizabeth Avenue, Somerset, New Jersey. It is expected that Regal Bank will assume approximately $32 million in deposits from New Millennium Bank.

Valley National Bank Promotes James M. Trouwborst

Valley National Bank announced the promotion of James M. Trouwborst to Senior Vice President, Commercial Lending Division Head. Trouwborst is responsible for managing the Wayne, New Jersey Commercial Lending Division and the New Jersey Healthcare Lending teams. He will coordinate and direct the business development initiatives for lenders in both groups while maintaining the credit quality of the portfolio.
