The Trump Cabinet - Where Does It Stand?
Sponsored by

Over the last few weeks one of the most important narratives in Washington has been the confirmation process of President Trump’s cabinet. Approximately four weeks into the new Administration, over half of the President’s cabinet has been confirmed, including top positions known colloquially as “the big four,” which are the Secretaries of State, Treasury and Defense, as well as Attorney General.

Apartment Industry Opposes NLRB "Joint Employer" Standard

NMHC/NAA is working as a member of the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace to urge Congress to legislatively overturn the National Labor Relation Board’s (NLRB) joint employer standard that could potentially make apartment firms liable for the actions of their subcontractors, suppliers, vendors and temporary staff.

Multifamily & the Future of the US Postal Service-a Tangled Web

The notion that reforming and restructuring the US Postal Service (USPS) could have a major impact on the multifamily industry may come as a surprise to some, but after a hearing on Capitol Hill last week that appears to increasingly be the case. Apartment companies and their residents rely on the USPS for mail and package delivery, but the services they receive are coming into question as Congress looks for ways to shore up the finances of the USPS in the wake of falling mail volume and accompanying revenue.

NMHC PAC Developing 2017 Strategy

It may seem too early to be thinking about the 2018 elections, but make no mistake, members of the House and Senate have already started their fundraising pitches. We are less than a month into the new Administration and already tensions are at a fever pitch between the two parties. With the Republicans controlling both the White House and Congress they have outlined an aggressive agenda that includes issues critical to the multifamily industry such as tax reform, an infrastructure package, immigration reform, Dodd Frank Reform and regulatory relief, and reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Political pundits agree that the GOP has limited time to deliver results on this agenda before election politics begin and influence the policy landscape. One thing is for sure, with 25 Senate Democrats and 8 Republicans up for re-election in 2018, it is already promising to be another unpredictable election cycle.
