Ohio-ACC 18th Annual Meeting on October 18th in Columbus

Our annual meeting information is ready for you on our website at http://ohioacc.org/18th_Annual_Meeting.htm.

The meeting will be held at The Conference Center at NorthPointe on Saturday, October 18.  You can review the schedule and register online. Highlights include talks on ventricular arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, heart disease and pregnancy, new preoperative cardiac clearance guidelines for non-cardiac surgery, robotic surgery, a look at ACC quality initiatives and more. We will also have the popular oral competition between our fellows-in-training, which has been excellent the past couple of years.   

The meeting has accreditation for both physicians and nurses. Go here for complete details.

  Poster Competition for Fellows-in-Training

All current Ohio fellows in a cardiology training program are invited to present their research (past or present) during the poster session, scheduled for Saturday, October 18th at the Ohio-ACC's Annual Meeting. Eligible posters may present recent data or information that has been presented previously at a local or national meeting. Go here for complete information.

Submission
Download the poster submission form, and submit by email to ohioacc@gmail.com by September 13th. Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author to be present on October 18th if his/her poster is accepted. NOTE: All fellows MUST also register for the meeting.

Judging
The abstracts will be judged in advance to select the top two abstracts for oral presentation. The rest of the accepted abstracts will be presented as posters and judged at the poster presentation on Saturday, October 18. 

Prizes

  • Oral Presentation- First and second place for the oral presentation will be awarded based on a combination of abstract content and oral presentation delivery as judged by a panel of cardiologists from various institutions. 
    First place - $500
    Second place - $300
  • Poster Presentation 
    First place - $300
    Second place - $200
    Winners will be announced on Saturday, October 18, at the end of the meeting.

Hotel Reimbursement
For those fellows residing outside of the Columbus area, one night’s hotel room and tax will be reimbursed. Call 866.233.9393 to make your room reservation. Make sure to keep your receipt to turn in for reimbursement.

  Tribute to Richard P. Lewis, M.D., M.A.C.C.

The Ohio State University will hold a celebration of the life of Richard P. Lewis, M.D., M.A.C.C., on Monday, Sept. 8, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The tribute will take place at the Davis Heart & Lung Research Institute Auditorium in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Lewis, an Ohio-ACC past governor, ACC past president, and editor in chief of ACCSAP, passed away in May following a brief illness. Fred Bove, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.C., vice president of the ACC, will attend on the ACC’s behalf.
