AFE Hosts Industry Summit in Miami


Floral Summit for the Future 

AFE Trustees held their January Board meeting in Miami, and also hosted a "Floral Summit for the Future" with the Board members of Association of Floral Importers of Florida (AFIF), Asocolflores representatives, and other local industry members.

Trustees were also treated to a special tour (by Christine Boldt of AFIF) of the cargo airline Atlas Air, the inspection site for perishables at the Miami International Airport, as well as other off-site facilities Continental Flowers and The USA Bouquet Company.

Three new videos were released promoting AFE's Vic & Margaret Ball Intern Scholarship Program.

The videos feature student interviews (during their internships) who describe their successful experiences, and how their internships are preparing them for the workforce.

Meet YPC Member Diana Fox

Diana Fox is a floral designer at Country Floral and Gifts, and is pursuing a degree in Plant Science at the University of Missouri – Columbia.

She worked in health care for about seven years before joining the floral industry to follow her dream.

Annual NFF Meeting Coming Up in March

The National Floriculture Forum (NFF) is holding its 2017 annual event from March 17-19 in conjunction with the Philadelphia International Flower Show.

Participants will attend the show on Friday and tour several local facilities on Saturday, including Longwood Gardens. Student and industry presentations, and discussions on increasing the younger generation's involvement in floriculture and horticulture, will take place on Sunday morning.
