2017 Fundraising Dinner Canceled Due to Hurricane Irma

The AFE 2017 Fundraising Dinner, scheduled in conjunction with the SAF Annual Convention in Palm Beach, was canceled due to Hurricane Irma.

'40 Days of Summer Giving' Exceeds Goal!

Sakata Seed America teamed up with the Endowment for a "40 Days of Summer Giving" campaign in celebration of Sakata's 40th anniversary.

For 40 days – July 10th to August 18th – contributions made to AFE were matched dollar-for-dollar by Sakata up to $10,000. The goal was $20,000, which was SUPER-EXCEEDED!

Results from New Floral Purchase Tracking Study Coming Soon

AFE and the Floral Marketing Research Fund (FMRF) will be releasing results from the 2016 Floral Purchase Tracking Study, which offers real purchasing data on consumer purchases over the 12 months of 2016.

Funded by the FMRF, this new study was conducted by IPSOS in partnership with SAF and provides the industry with valuable information to help plan for inventories, marketing and pricing to help florists maximize their sales.

The Floral Purchase Tracking Study will be available for purchase in October, which includes a webinar, so stay tuned!

MSU Professor Awarded for Achievement in Horticultural Entomology

Dr. David Smitley, a professor and Michigan State University extension specialist, has been awarded the Entomological Society of America's 2017 Distinguished Achievement Award in Horticultural Entomology.

The award honors Dr. Smitley for his achievements and contributions to the horticulture industry.

For decades, he has worked closely with the floriculture industry to identify and solve insect pest problems. In 2014, Dr. Smitley began work with nursery and greenhouse growers to develop practices for producing high-quality plants that are safe for pollinators.

Sarah Armellini Painting Raffle Rescheduled

Due to the cancellation of the 2017 Fundraising Dinner, the planned fundraising raffle will now be held during the WF&FSA Convention on October 20, 2017.

This one-of-a-kind, canvas oil painting was created and donated by longtime industry member Sarah Armellini.

All proceeds from the raffle will benefit AFE's general fund.

Upcoming Video Contest Promotes Flower Love

A new AFE video contest is coming soon, encouraging people to showcase their love of flowers!

Funded by the FMRF and sponsored by Asocolflores, the 2017 #FlowerLoveAFE Video Contest aims to inspire creative videos from anyone who loves flowers, and promote the use and giving of fresh flowers.

We're seeking 30-60 second videos that may be testimonials, skits, animation, surprise moments, musicals, or other types of videos, as long as they feature fresh flowers and tell a story about why you love flowers.
