Gay Smith Honored with Memorial Tribute
A memorial tribute has been established honoring Gayle (Gay) Smith, 63, who passed away on March 1st.
The tribute was established thanks to a generous contribution from Chrysal Americas President Jim Kaplan. Gay served as the technical manager for Chrysal for more than 18 years.

Honoring a Legacy at the Third Annual Tom Butler Dinner
For the third consecutive year,
industry members from across the country gathered to honor and celebrate
the life of the late Tom Butler, and his legacy in the floral industry.
The annual fundraising dinner was held on March 13 at Tom's favorite
restaurant – The Capital Grille in Washington, D.C. – following the Society of American Florists' Congressional Action Days. Thirty-two people attended the dinner this year, which raised more than $2,800 toward the Tom Butler Family Fund.

Nearly $300,000 Funded in 2018-2019 Research Projects
Nearly $300,000 is being funded for
AFE research for the 2018-2019 fiscal year, covering projects that
address important floriculture/horticulture issues.
Six new projects and four continuing projects are being funded.
The goal of all AFE research
is to provide knowledge that helps maintain and grow strong, vibrant
floriculture and environmental horticulture industries.
