Fresh From Our Greenhouses To You
Fall Lily Vase

When we say fresh...
We mean FRESH!

Cut just hours before you receive them, our Lily Vase makes a beautiful presentation for any occasion.

Bright yellow and brilliant orange colors on straight stems with heavy bud count make our lilies superb cut flowers.

Distinctive trumpet-shaped flowers of the Asiatic Lily grow up to 6 inches in diameter with 3 to 5 buds on a stem. Our lily bulbs are planted individually in pots yielding one stem per bulb. Stems grow up to 3 feet in height.

Plantings are staggered during the season to insure your flowers are fresh every time you order.

At Mischler's, we think of our customers first. The popularity of certain plants or flowers can set a direction for our production of certain products. Such is the case with sunflowers. Their popularity has always been strong but our Floral Shop has noticed an increase in the request of that flower in arrangements during the Autumn season.

As Summer comes to a close, greenhouse space becomes available. Taking advantage of the opportunity, we grew our first crop of sunflowers for use in our Floral Shop. As with our lilies, plantings are staggered during the season to insure the availability of fresh flowers throughout the Fall. With success, comes growth and next year we plan to expand production.

Stop by our Floral Shop or visit us on-line at www.mischlersflorist.com to place your order for a beautiful Mischler arrangement TODAY!

Indigenous to Mexico and Central America, the Poinsettia was introduced into the United States in 1828. Poinsettias are popular Christmas decorations in homes, churches, offices, and elsewhere across North America. The plant's association with Christmas began in 16th century Mexico, where legend tells of a young girl who was too poor to provide a gift for the celebration of Jesus' birthday. The tale goes that the child was inspired by an angel to gather weeds from the roadside and place them in front of the church altar. Crimson "blossoms" sprouted from the weeds and became beautiful poinsettias.

Telltale signs of color are beginning to show in the bract, or colored portion of the plant which is actually a leaf. Longer nights, longer periods of darkness, at least 12 hours at a time, are necessary for color development. At the same time, the plants need sufficient light during the day for the brightest color.

Raised under controlled conditions, light and temperature play a big part in ensuring that the peak bloom time occurs at the proper time of the season.

Another popular seasonal favorite is the Hydrangea. These too, are coming along nicely. We expect to begin availability of our Snowball hydrangeas towards the end of November.

The Mischler's Poinsettias and Snowball Hydrangeas are right on schedule and will be ready for you this holiday season!

Musical Interlude

Enjoy the sounds of the season in a conservatory atmosphere with flutists from Note-worthy Concertante Saturday, December 2, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Note-worthy Concertante started as a community service focused student flute ensemble. Under the direction of Linda Fusani, herself a local preforming flutist and teacher, the group has regularly performed in area nursing homes, senior centers and assisted living residences for over 10 years.

At times, Note-worthy Concertante has guest artists join them, thus providing additional sounds of strings, woodwinds, pianists and vocalists. This year, the group will be joined by 2 guest flutists.

Mischler's Florist and Greenhouses is a traditional and a favorite venue of Note-worthy Concertante where musically they will once again usher in Williamsville's Holiday in the Village celebration with their festive selections.

Join us in Mischler's Greenhouse for a unique presentation by an extremely talented group of musicians.
