Increased Delivery Fees at Mother’s Day

Almost a third of retail florists hiked their delivery charges for Mother's Day due to increasing gasoline costs, according to SAF's online Zoomerang survey following the holiday. Two thirds of retail florists who charged delivery fees over Mother's Day charged between $5 and $9, Almost a quarter of the businesses charged between $10 and $14, while 8 percent charged less than $5. No more than 2 percent charged in excess of $15 per delivery.

Fifty-nine percent of respondents said they did not receive any consumer resistance to delivery charges; a third (35 percent) indicated a small amount of resistance and 5 percent noted moderate resistance. None indicated they thought they were receiving "significant resistance" from consumers.
