Floriculture in Virginia

Valued at around $810,000, cut flower growing comprises a mere 1 percent of the value of floriculture production in the Commonwealth of Virginia, according to the USDA's Floriculture Crops Summary Report. Total wholesale value of production comes to around $80 million, with bedding and garden plants ($55 million) making up more than two-thirds (69 percent) of the production pie. The remainder of the grower receipts break down into potted flowering plants ($23.4 million or 29 percent) and foliage ($932,000 or 1 percent).
