Florist is Star in Bee Movie

If you're headed off to the movies this weekend with your kids — or, if you're a kid at heart — you'll notice a familiar name in the animated "Bee Movie," which opens Nov. 2.

Renée Zellweger is the voice of Vanessa Bloome, an FTD florist, who catches the attention of Barry B. Benson (Jerry Seinfeld), a bee who just graduated from college and is trying to put off working at the hive. Vanessa helps Barry understand the ins and outs of the human race, only for Barry to discover that humans are stealing honey to sell, and the busy bee decides a lawsuit is in order.

Dreamworks, the producers, approached FTD about its name appearance, and FTD was excited to have its first product placement in an animated film, according to officials. It's not the first time FTD has appeared on the big screen — its name has also been seen in the movie "Mickey Blue Eyes" and on television shows such as "Everybody Loves Raymond."

"It's expected to be a big hit and get our name out to consumers," says Emily Peterson, a representative for FTD marketing and events. "We're looking forward to it, and we're hoping it will benefit our network of florists."
