Foster's Daily Democrat Praises Flowers

An article in Foster's Daily Democrat, based in Dover, N.H., has great things to say about florists. In "Cut flowers bring back the colors of summer," Henry Homeyer, who's the author of Vermont Gardener's Companion: An Insider's Guide to Gardening in the Green Mountain State, writes: "Cut flowers are among modern America's true bargains. For the price of a bottle of wine — or a couple of cups of fancy coffee — you can buy flowers that will grace your table for up to three weeks. But there are some things you should know about getting good table-life for your investment. First, you need to buy fresh flowers that have been carefully tended — and you can't beat a florist for that."

And he goes on to give care and handling tips (like recutting stems, keeping flowers away from the radiator) and lists some long-lasting, budget-friendly blooms. Check out the article online.
