AT&T and Converse Disparage Floral Industry
SAF has responded to two additional instances of national corporations making negative remarks about flowers in their Mother's Day advertising campaigns.
AT&T's radio commercial features a mom expressing disappointment with Mother's Day gifts. The mom in the ad proclaims: "Chocolates — I'm on a diet! ... Flowers — I'm allergic!"
The iconic shoe brand Converse distributed an e-mail that reads "FLOWERS DIE. CHOCOLATE MELTS. CHUCK'S LIVE ON. This Mother's Day, give her the gift that keeps on living."
SAF urged the companies to eliminate negative references to flowers from their promotions and as part of their advertising strategy. At press time, the companies have not responded.
Alert SAF to negative floral references by faxing (703) 836-8705, e-mailing jstromann@safnow.org or calling (800) 336-4743.
