Florida Florists' Sign Helps Land Publicity

There are lots of ways to promote a new store opening -- but there is one effective and simple way to get press: put up a sign. It certainly worked for Four Seasons Floral and Events in Clearwater, Fla.

The store's new location in downtown Tampa, which will open within the next few weeks, was featured in a May 11 article in the St. Petersburg Times. The shop's "coming soon" sign, with the business' name and phone number, in the new space is what has prompted at least two reporters to call, says design manager Bill Russo.

The article focused on new shop's "sleek and modern" look. "All of our advertising [and PR] has been word-of-mouth," Russo says.

The sign, and the article, have brought the new store a lot of attention from potential customers. "We have had a lot of people calling, asking what's going to be in the new store, will it be the same as the main one, what services we will offer," he says.
