Spring Holidays Peak with Mother's Day Florist Sales
Almost 60 percent of retail florists responding to SAF's holiday sales survey for Mother's Day reported that sales increased compared to one year ago. Only 11 percent said sales decreased and 28 reported no change. For Easter, the first floral holiday in the spring trifecta of online sales surveys conducted in April and May, about one-third each of florists reported that sales increased, decreased or sales were unchanged from a year ago (35 percent; 35 percent; 30 percent). Secretaries Week/Administrative Professionals Week was not quite as successful, according to results of the third online survey. Here, about 27 percent of florists reported increases in sales versus one year ago, about the same proportion said sales were down (29 percent), while 41 percent indicated sales for the week were about the same as in 2006.
