Comments Sought on Proposal for Video Standards

The Security Industry Association Standards Department is seeking comments on a proposed project: OSIPS Security Applications Standard for Design, Deployment and Operation of Video Technology for Detection, Assessment and Forensic Analysis.

The project aims to develop standards that will establish criteria for:

  • the selection of video technological capabilities based on application requirements;
  • the deployment of such technology, including its integration;
  • the operation of the deployed system, including the operator actions, maintenance actions and proper practices for users of the captured information to ensure that a predictable level of effective operation is always present; and
  • conformity assessment test procedures and test cases as needed to provide quality verification of claimed results.

The full proposal is available on the SIA Web site.

Comments and questions about the project should be directed to Monica Rigano, SIA's director of standards, at mrigano@siaonline.org. The comment period is scheduled to end on March 31.

The SIA Standards Committee plans to discuss the project proposal at its ISC West meeting in Las Vegas. The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. on April 1 in room 507 of The Venetian.
