TWITTER PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT

I realized my first year of graduate school that I was quite accidentally compiling scholarly articles by simply keeping up with the TESOL professionals I was following on Twitter. I wondered if this tool could be used by my first-year writing students in our research writing class. In the below activity I was preparing my L2 writing classes at the University of Arizona for future Twitter research. In order to do this I sent them on a Twitter Photo Scavenger Hunt around campus.

WATCHING YOUTUBE WITH A PURPOSE: USING VIDEONOT.ES FOR PRACTICING LISTENING AND NOTE-TAKING

Evan Simpson says that the growth of MOOCs has created the need for a way to take and collect digital notes. He feels that while this need does not directly affect English language teachers, one of the solutions does. A free, web-based application called Videonot.es allows users to take notes and could revolutionize how teachers use videos in and out of the language learning classroom.
