EAP FOR CIVIL ENGINEERING COURSE IN EMI UNIVERSITY IN LEBANON

A growing body of English medium instruction (EMI) literature has highlighted the need for discipline specific English for Academic Purposes (EAP) provision developed through collaboration between EAP and discipline specialists. This report provides an overview of course design for one such course, EAP for Civil Engineering Studies at an EMI university in Lebanon, and will especially appeal to ESP practitioners and researchers interested in English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP), genre analysis, and applied linguistics in EMI contexts. Read More

The 57th ESP Project Leader Profile features Jena Lynch, Associate Program Coordinator for the Aviation English Department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). In the TESOL ESPIS, Jena returns to the Steering Board as the recently elected English in Occupational Settings (EOS) Representative. She had served on the ESPIS Steering Board previously as Secretary/Archivist. In her profile, she talks about creating the new teacher training program for a yearlong, completely new, online course in the new Aviation English department in ERAU. Read More
