MEET THE ICIS LEADERSHIP FOR 2021-22

	Roxanna Senyshyn, Ph, D., Past Chair (2019-2020) and Co-Chair (2020-2021). As Co-Chair, I am sharing overall responsibility for the direction and functioning of ICIS and serve as the primary liaison with TESOL and other Communities of Practice. As the Past Chair, I seek nominations for, run, and report the results of ICIS elections. I am Associate Professor in Applied Linguistics and Communication Arts and Sciences at Abington College, Pennsylvania State University in Abington, PA, USA. My teaching encompasses TESOL/ESL education, applied linguistics, and intercultural communication courses. My research focuses on transformative intercultural learning in teacher education, intercultural competence development, and second language education. My email is rms42@psu.edu
	Amy Alice Chastain, Co-Chair (2020-2021). I am Associate Professor of Instruction at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA, USA and serve as Outreach Coordinator for ESL Programs and a member of the UI Charter Committee for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. I have lived in France, China and the UAE and my research interests include exploring ways to encourage and build intercultural understanding and communicative competence; the use of ethnography and narrative; language choice and identity. 	Natalia Balyasnikova, Ph.D., Co-Chair Elect (2021-22). As a Chair-Elect, I work closely with Chairs on ensuring the implementation of ICIS goals for the year. For any questions, contact me at natbal@yorku.ca. I am Assistant Professor of Adult Education at York University, Toronto, Canada. My teaching and research focuses on learning in later life and the role of culture in this process.
	Barbara Lapornik, ICIS Past chair. As ICIS Past Chair and present Steering Committee member, I actively promote and support our community as all our team concentrates on ICIS present and future steps and direction. I can be contacted at: barbara.lapornik@gmail.com. I am based in Trieste, Italy, and work for the bilingual high school LS F. Prešeren, also covering the role of an international project manager, who organises and coordinates student and staff exchanges, competitions in civic education and English language certificates. I focus my research on the manifold aspects of intercultural student education in diverse contexts, presenting them at international conferences.
	Andrea Lypka, ICIS Community Co-Manager. I am Andrea Lypka, and I am the Director of Integrated Learning for Learning Empowered in Largo, FL. I oversee ESOL, Citizenship, Digital Literacy, and Financial Literacy classes. I am an involved member of the TESOL ICIS community as a community manager and Sunshine State TESOL Board. My research interests include learner identity, discourse analysis, online teacher training, service-learning, CALL, and participatory visual methods. 	Sharon Tjaden-Glass, ICIS Community Co-Manager. I promote ICIS newsletter articles, meetings, webinars, and events on social media. I can be reached at sharon.tjadenglass@gmail.com. I am an instructional media designer for the eLearning Division at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. I'm currently interested in best practices in instructional design for English learners, open educational resources, and intercultural listening.
	Leslie Bohon, ICIS Newsletter Co-Editor. As Co-Editor of the ICIS Newsletter, I am responsible for collecting and distributing interesting and pertinent information to our membership about Intercultural Learning and Communication. I also teach international students and conduct intercultural learning programs at the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA, USA as Interim Director of ESL.
	Josephine Prado, ICIS Newsletter Co-Editor. As Co-Editor of the ICIS Newsletter, I am responsible for collecting and distributing interesting and pertinent information to our membership about Intercultural Learning and Communication. I serve as Assistant Professor for English Learner Education in the School of Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. My research interests include intercultural competence in teacher education, and ESOL teachers’ efforts in advocacy.
	Jennifer A. Lacroix, Co-Chair Elect (2021-2022). As a Chair-Elect, I collaborate extensively with current ICIS Chairs to carry out ICIS goals. I am a pedagogy-focused applied linguist with expertise in second language acquisition research and its applications to language teaching. I am also an accomplished TESOL trainer with deep knowledge of various teaching methodologies and evidence-based practices. I received my M.A. from Lesley University, and will earn my doctorate in May 2021 in Language Education from Boston University where I teach. I have presented widely at international conferences and frequently co-authored publications with my collaborators. You can find out more about me on LinkedIn or read my full profile at BU.
	Ha Nguyen, ICIS Member-at-Large. As an ICIS Member-at-Large, I serve as a liaison between the ICIS and the general membership. I also collaborate with the VietTESOL association and the US Embassy in Vietnam to deliver webinars and organize the annual VietTESOL International Conference for Vietnamese teachers and teachers around the world, focusing on teacher PD, online learning, and intercultural competence. 	Ramin Yazdanpanah, ICIS Member-at-Large. As an ICIS Member-at-Large, I serve as a liaison between the ICIS and the general membership. I am the Director of Full Circle Language Learning. I work extensively with the English Language Programs, a program of the U.S. Department of State, TESOL International Association, and the Learning Systems Institute at Florida State University. 	Amina Douidi, ICIS Member-at-Large. As an ICIS Member-at-Large, I serve as a liaison between the ICIS and the general membership. I recently completed my PhD from the University of Southampton, UK. My research focuses on intercultural representation, interaction and dialogic pedagogy. As a member of Cultnet, I lead the Cultnet digital team.
