Oxygen Finds Out: Women and Humor

  • 74% of women rate themselves as having a ‘good sense of humor’.
  • 72% of women say they can tell a joke well.
  •  The majority of women (and men) favor humor about the minute details of everyday life as the #1 funny topic on TV or in advertising (68%).
  •  There is a humor generation gap among women. Older women 50+ like ‘good family humor’ (56%), while younger women 18-34 enjoy sarcasm (79%) and humor that mocks (62%).
  • And with the upcoming elections, the vast majority of women 18-49 say it is important for a political candidate to have a good sense of humor (91%).
