Congress Passes Two Key Provisions That Advance Public Transportation

The House of Representatives gave final approval early Dec. 17 to President Obama's tax bill.

The package includes a two-year extension of the Bush-era tax cuts that were set to expire Dec. 31. It includes two critical provisions that advance public transportation: the alternative fuels/natural gas tax credit (making it retroactive to January 1, 2010 when it expired) and the monthly commuter tax benefit which will remain at $230.
