DOT: $32 Million to Develop BRT in Grand Rapids, MI

On Oct. 18, FTA Administrator Peter Rogoff came to Grand Rapids, MI, to announce that DOT has agreed to provide $32 million to the city to expand Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) through The Rapid’s new Silver Line service.

The BRT route will cover 9.6 miles and provide service to a number of major employers in the region including St. Mary’s Medical Campus, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, and the Cook-DeVos School of Nursing—which have a combined 29,000 employees.

Local and state officials joined Rogoff for the announcement.
