Foxx Ends Bus Tour in D.C.; Proposes Rule Safety Framework for Rail Transit
DOT Secretary Anthony Foxx completed his four-day, five state bus tour on Feb. 20 at Washington, D.C.’s Union Station, where he reiterated his appeal to Congress urging action on a long-term transportation bill and announced a proposed rule to increase the oversight responsibilities of State Safety Oversight Agencies (SSOAs). [More]
Foxx Promotes Light Rail in Visit to Durham, NC

As part of his four-day, five-state GROW AMERICA Express bus tour, DOT Secretary Anthony Foxx visited Durham, NC, Feb. 19 to talk about the Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit Project. Triangle Transit in Research Triangle Park, NC, is currently conducting planning and environmental review activities for the 17.1-mile line, which ultimately will connect the cities of Durham and Chapel Hill. [More]

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is coping with a series of winter storms that dumped more than 97 inches of snow—that’s 8 feet—on Boston this winter season, with more than 60 inches falling in February alone, making it the snowiest month in the city’s history. [More]

CTA Opens Cermak-McCormick Place Station

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) opened its newly constructed Cermak-McCormick Place Green Line Station Feb. 9 on the city’s Near South Side, filling a 2.5-mile gap between CTA stations that has existed since 1977, when the previous station at that location was demolished. [More]
