Skoutelas Presents at Innotrans in Berlin

APTA President and CEO Paul P. Skoutelas, shown with Philippe Citroën, director general of UNIFE (Association of the European Rail Industry), presented an overview of the U.S. rail market and trends and signed a new APTA-UNIFE Memorandum of Understanding at Innotrans 2018, the world’s largest rail technology and infrastructure expo, which convened recently in Berlin. “It was remarkable to see how the rail industry is shifting to a multimodal technology industry,” Skoutelas said. “Key messages from rail leaders were the urgent need to invest in a workforce pipeline for the industry and attract key talent, and that the mobility future is not being built on single-occupancy vehicles.” Skoutelas, along with APTA Vice President-Strategic and International Programs Petra Mollet and Assistant Vice President-Technical Services and Innovation Jeff Hiott, met with APTA member rail OEMs, rail and technology-related firms and European stakeholders including the European Commission and the European Union Agency for Railways.
