Senate, House Committees Approve HTF Extensions

As Passenger Transport went to press, on July 10 both the Senate Finance Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee voted for legislation that would extend the solvency of the Highway Trust Fund (HTF), including the Mass Transit Account. The House bill is scheduled to come to the floor the week of July 14.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (D-OR) made changes to the committee's bill so it conforms more closely with the version proposed by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI).

Both the House and Senate proposals make available approximately $10.8 billion for the Highway Account ($8.8 billion) and Mass Transit Account ($2 billion) of the HTF.
