Ohio EPA Grants for Alternative Fuel Vehicles Conversion

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) has awarded almost $1 million to four public transit agencies in the state through a grant program to help fund conversion of diesel-powered fleet vehicles to CNG.

The agencies are the Central Ohio Transit Authority in Columbus, $400,000 for components of 18 CNG-powered buses; the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, $400,000 for components of 16 CNG-powered buses; Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority in Kent, $150,000 for components of six CNG-powered buses; and Stark Area Regional Transit Authority in Canton, $25,000 for components of one CNG-powered bus.

Municipalities and schools are also included in the Ohio EPA program, which is supported by $5 million from the Alternative Fuel Transportation Fund of the Ohio Developmental Services Agency.
