FTA Schedules NPRM Listening Session During APTA Conference

FTA will hold a listening session March 16 at 9:30 a.m. at the JW Marriott Hotel, Washington, DC, during the APTA Legislative Conference, regarding a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on public transportation agency safety plans as authorized by MAP-21 Section 20021.

Under the NPRM, which appeared in the Feb. 5 Federal Register, operators of public transportation systems that receive federal financial assistance under 49 U.S.C. Chapter 53 would be required to develop and implement public transportation agency safety plans based on the Safety Management System approach. APTA also is planning a call or webinar about the NPRM and safety plans, and will notify members once the details have been settled.

Find the notice in the Federal Register here.

FTA will accept comments on the NPRM through April 5. Commenters must identify their submissions by either docket number (FTA–2015–0021) or Regulatory Identification Number. They can submit electronic comments and other data here.
