TRB Has an IDEA: Funding for Transit Innovators
The Transportation Research Board (TRB) is accepting proposals for the Transit IDEA Program; the deadlines for submitting proposals for its 2017 funding cycles are May 1 and Nov. 1.
The IDEA program (Innovations Deserving Exploratory Analysis) provides financial support of up to $100,000 for the early stage development and testing of innovative but unproven concepts and methods for advancing public transit practice.
TRB encourages proposals in one of four transit-related areas: improving safety or security; improving capital or operating efficiencies; increasing ridership; or protecting the environment and promoting energy independence.
The program is part of the Transit Cooperative Research Program, a cooperative effort of FTA, TRB and the Transit Development Corporation, APTA’s nonprofit educational and research organization.
