FTA's Williams to Speak at Annual Meeting

FTA Acting Administrator K. Jane Williams will be a featured speaker at the APTA Annual Meeting in Nashville, leading the “FTA Update” General Session the afternoon of Sept. 24.

This session will provide information on FTA’s initiatives and priorities, including infrastructure investments, mobility management, workforce development and technology, among other topics. APTA Executive Committee members Diana C. Mendes and Leanne P. Redden will serve as co-moderators.

Earlier that day, Daymond John, founder and CEO, FUBU, and star of ABC’s Shark Tank, will keynote the Opening General Session, discussing his own career path: the wins and the losses, the importance of developing an entrepreneurial spirit, and the value of innovation as strategies for success. Hear a message from John here.

Prior to John’s presentation, the Opening Session will address APTA’s initiatives to support the industry as it adapts to the dual challenges of preparing for tomorrow while delivering high-quality service for the present-day.

The Sept. 26 Closing General Session, “Discovering Transit’s Value Messages in Big Data,” will report on how public transit agencies are using data to inform decision-making and evaluate programs and operations. The next big step is to understand the direct correlation between public transit services and broader public benefits such as health, economic prosperity, education and opportunity.
