New CEOs Named

Poftak, MBTA

Steve Poftak, vice chair of the Massachusetts Bay ­Transportation Authority (MBTA) Fiscal and Management ­Control Board, has been named MBTA general manager. He succeeds Luis Ramirez, who is stepping down after serving since September 2017; MBTA General Manager Jeffrey ­Gonneville will manage the responsibilities of the general manager until Poftak officially takes the post on Jan. 1, 2019.

Poftak, who served as MBTA interim general manager for three months in 2017, has been executive director of the Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston at the Harvard Kennedy School since 2012. He has 16 years of public policy experience.

Ikhrata, SANDAG
Hasan Ikhrata has joined the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) as its executive director. He previously worked for the Southern California Association of Governments since 1994, as its executive director for the past 10 years.
Ikhrata succeeds Gary Gallegos, who retired last year after leading SANDAG since 2001.
