New Flyer Rededicates Facility Following $25M Renovation

New Flyer of America Inc. recently expanded its advanced manufacturing facility in Anniston, AL, adding 76,000 square feet of space with the completion of a $25 million renovation.

The expansion brings the total campus size to nearly 400,000 square feet of advanced manufacturing capacity and completes site readiness for production of battery-electric buses. It brings together bus part fabrication and the welding process while adding workspace for the administrative team.

Wayne Joseph, president of New Flyer of America, said, “The investment in our Anniston facility furthers New Flyer’s commitment to American jobs and manufacturing and reiterates our ability to build and deliver safe, reliable and technologically advanced transit buses.”

New Flyer acquired the 36-acre Anniston campus, formerly North American Bus Industries, in 2013. In 2015, the company invested $20 million to transform the campus to a world-class LEAN manufacturing site capable of producing New Flyer’s Xcelsior heavy-duty bus platform. The company also invested $5 million in electric-bus production upgrades and programming over the past year.
